At Anthropologie, Wishes Do Come True!

Happy Monday!  (If there is such a thing!).  No snow for us ... a lot of hype but just sunny skies and cold temperatures.  Mondays are great for me as I finally get time to catch up on the blogs that I love.  Of course, this is done at work in the privacy of my office; everyone thinks I am quite diligent on Monday mornings!

Anyway, last week I tried on the Tied Down Dress, which I love, but wished that it came in other colors... Ask and ye shall receive ... Guess what was up on the Anthropologie website this morning!

Tied Down Dress
Red
$98

Thanks, Anthropologie!  I am looking forward to seeing this dress in person!  With the free shipping on orders over $150 (for Anthro members) I might have to place an order soon ... especially if there are markdowns tomorrow on some of the things on my wishlist!

Thanks for stopping by!

Finally Friday!

Happy Friday!  I am so happy that we are headed into another weekend.  We are expecting SNOW here in the Bay Area - a rare occurrence which we are all looking forward to...assuming the weather people are correct!

Anyhow, I did stop by Anthropologie yesterday and tried on a few things that were of interest on the website...The Rise and Shine Dress, Tied Down Dress, Gathering Tank and Squeezebox Tank.  The photos are awful ... I clearly have not mastered the one-handed photo taking and the lighting in the room I was in was horrible.  When I stepped out to take a photo in the main area, I was told that wasn't allowed!  Whatever!

Tied Down Dress - size 2 - $98 - This dress does not come with a belt but I have used the Media Via Belt in dark brown (it also comes in Cognac).  I love the cowl neckline and cute ties at the shoulders.  This is something I could wear to work with a cadigan over it on a more casual day.  The fit in the bust was perfect and I liked that the skirt was not too full but still had some "flow" to it.  I would stick to your usual size, but perhaps try  size down if you are smaller chested.  I do wish this dress came in other colors - the blue is nice, but some other options for summer would be nice.

Rise and Shine Dress - Size 2 - $98 - This dress had me from the beginning.  It is a light denim material with an A-line shape (and clearly needs steaming in the photo!).  Shown is the size 2, which pulled at the bust as you can see!  I tried on the 4 and the fit was much better.  This dress is darling with the flowered sash or belted.  I can see myself wearing this with a cute t-shirt underneath or as is for hotter, summer days.  The negative with the dress is that the straps are not adjustable, I was not effected by this omission but I can see that others would be.  Definitely a yes on this dress is a size 4.

Gathering Tank - size XS - $48 - Not really a tank, huh?!  I love this little top - a little sheer but with a nude bra you'd be okay.  The length was fine for me and I loved the cap sleeves.  This is another great basic from Anthropologie that I will wear all summer.  Fit is TTS, but size up if you want a flowier look and feel.

Squeezebox Top - size XS - $48.  They only had the navy at my store and the photo was horrible, so I will spare you that!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this top.  It is made of the softest cotton!  This can be dressed up or down; great with jeans, shorts or skits.  The design is very slimming and the pleats are darling.  A fantastic basic from Anthropologie!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

A Long and Full Weekend!

Good Afternoon!  We are back from a snowy, wonderful weekend in Yosemite!  One of the most amazingly beautiful places on the planet.  We were lucky enough to get snowed in for a few days, which is quite exciting for those of us who live where it does not snow.  For those of you in the Mid-West or East Coast, sorry ... I know it has been a snowy one for you ...

Anyhow, I did manage to get over to Anthropologie before we left and tried on a few items that I thought were interesting.  First was the Blooming Goldenrod Dress, which has a lot of hype in the blogs.  The dress is really pretty from afar, with a darling flower print skirt with ruffle accents in black.  The sash looks nothing like in the stock photo, and was limp and boring IRL.  I am generally a size 0 or 2 in dresses, but the 0 was too tight in the bust to even get it zipped up.  The 2 was better, but now that it fit my bust, the skirt just hung there ... no shape and it was LOOONNNGGG.  So long that with the flower print it looked matronly on me. I should note that the dress is a very thin cotton material; it was lined though.  Overall,  a pass for me.

Next I tried on the Cultural Heritage Skirt.  This skirt did not cross my radar until I saw it in the store.  It is tiny white polka dots and a beautiful, rich blue background.  The waistband is a larger printed polka dot.  The skirt is made of a sturdy material and feels substantial.  I tried on my usual size 2 but it was a little snug - this is a pencil skirt ala Mad Men!  Up to a 4 and the fit was perfect with enough room to tuck in a blouse to show off the cute waistband.  The skirt is, however, long.  It fell a few inches below my knee and for that reason, it was not a LOVE item for me.  I may reconsider at sale time.

I leave you with a picture of the Yosemite snowiness!  Have a great day and, as always, thanks for stopping by!

If the bow fits ...

Happy Thursday, readers!  It's POURING here today which made me feel like doing a little bit o' shoppin' while sitting at my desk ... good thing my office has a door!

Black House White Market has been on my radar for a long while.  I used to find a lot that I really liked there, but once my closet was well-stocked with black and white, I moved away from them.  The introduction of blasts of color to their offerings has made me sit up and take notice!  I was not one of the lucky ones who grabbed the floral pencil skirt before it sold out (grrr...) but I did manage to pick up his beauty...In my mind, the perfect tailored trench and the perfect sized bow.

Thanks to Chloe at http://www.seechloeshop.com/ I got 25% off with code 9486 and then successfully stacked a 10% off code, 9595, to save a whopping $54!  Pretty happy with that deal!  I will review the trench for the blog once it arrives!

My Loves ... Including The Best Chocolate Fondue Recipe EVER ...

On this Valentine's Day Eve I thought I'd share a little about my true loves ... aside from my family, of course!

ANTHROPOLOGIE - the filler of my closet, the emptier of my wallet and the place where I'd like to be accidentally locked in overnight.  Seriously, can you imagine being locked in an Anthropologie store overnight?!  They should sell overnight parties like the Cinderella castle at Disneyland - there are so many of us who would happily hand over our credit cards for that experience.  So you get it, I am an Anthropologie Addict.

LULULEMON - another filler of my closet, in a different way, and hands down the best work out wear I have ever worn.  Moisture wicking and butt-lifting ... who could ask for more?

Another love is this recipe for Chocolate Fondue... a recipe that I ran across and have modified.  It is fantastic served with fruit, pound cake and the usual dipping items, but I also love this drizzled over rich brownies.  It keeps well in the refrigerator for a few weeks, too.  Enjoy!

The BEST Chocolate Fondue
1 Cup Cocoa Powder (premium brands are better, but use what you can afford)
1 1/4 Cups Cool Water
1 1/2 Cups Bakers Sugar (a finer sugar, but you can use regular too, just make sure it dissolves)
1/4 Cup Light Corn Syrup
3/4 Cup Heavy Cream
5 Ounces Semi-Sweet Chocolate (chopped or in pieces - use the best brand you can afford)

Sift the cocoa and set aside.  Put the water, sugar and corn syrup into a saucepan and bring slowly to a boil.  Reduce heat and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sugar has totally dissolved and the syrup has reduced and thickened a bit.  Remove from heat.  Pour the cocoa into the syrup and whisk until smooth.  Return the saucepan to the stove over medium heat.  Add the heavy cream, bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes.  Remove pan from heat, stir in the chocolate pieces, stir until combined.  Place into your fondue pot, or let cool and refrigerate until you are ready to use.  You can re-heat the fondue in the microwave on medium, but only re-heat the amount you are going to use.
